COCKAPOO Breed Standards
The Cockapoo is a hybrid that is a cross-breed of a Cocker Spaniels and a Miniature Poodle and may demonstrate any combination of traits from those two breeds. Hybrids have become very popular in the past few years. They play a big role in the current designer dog trend. The key to cross breeding to purebred dogs is what is called hybrid vigor, the breeding resulting in a healthier dog with superior genetic constitution can come from dogs purebred for so long that they have common genetic disorders. The Cockapoo has a personality that is very sweet in nature. They are known for being very loyal, affectionate, friendly, clean, healthy and long lived dogs.
Males and Females are between 9-13 inches
Males and Females are 12-18 pounds, Teacup Toy, under 6 pounds, Toy, under 12 pounds, Miniature/Mini, 13-18 pounds, Maxi, over 19 pounds.
Golden blonde or black are the most common, the color of the coat really depends on the parents.
Cockapoos are prone to low shedding.
